Chez Dodie is a group of eighteenth century farm buildings, surrounding three sides of a secluded courtyard, which faces south across a small valley. Beyond the ridge of fields opposite, the land drops down to the River Dronne. The house is one of six properties that makes up the hamlet of Ferragut.
The whitewashed walls, shuttered windows, exposed beams and terracotta and wooden flooring gives the property a rustic feel, in keeping with the character of the buildings.
When heating is not necessary the property can accommodate five couples, and there are two additional beds and a cot. For the winter period only three double bedrooms are available, but two extra beds and the cot could still be used in the Grenier
The Main House
The Main House consists of 3 bedrooms: 2 double bedrooms and a twin room plus a seating area that can be converted into a bedroom.
Downstairs
The Main House provides centrally heated, self-contained accommodation. The open plan ground floor provides a large kitchen and living space. The open fireplace has a wood burning stove that creates a snug atmosphere on the rare rainy days!
The fitted kitchen is arranged along the opposite wall and is well equipped with two fridges, an electric hob, oven, dishwasher, microwave and enough cutlery and crockery to serve 12. There are also plates, cutlery and a high chair suitable for children.
A south facing vine-covered patio extends out from the kitchen/living room into the courtyard and is perfect for alfresco style dining.
‘The Palace‘
Our nickname for one of our favourite rooms. On the ground floor there is a double bedroom that has french windows leading out onto the main vine covered patio in the courtyard. Adjacent is the shower room and a separate loo.
‘annabel’
Leading off from the kitchen/living room is a twin bedroom, with built in shelves and a pretty shuttered window with views down the lane towards the fields. This is an ideal room for children or friends.
Upstairs
‘Grenier’
The large sitting room, ‘Grenier’, has a selection of books, games, and comfortable chairs. During summer months children can easily sleep in this room; there are two single beds but also additional mattresses so if people are prepared to sleep on the floor we have had up to four children comfortably sleeping here.
‘Juilette’
Leading off ‘Grenier’ is a lovely double bedroom with balustrade french windows overlooking the courtyard and swimming pool to the fields beyond. There is an en suite bathroom which also has a shower over the bath. In this room is the large airing cupboard for all the linen & bedding.
Outside Buildings
Chez Dodie is made up of several buildings that surround a courtyard, including two additional bedrooms, a bathroom as well as a utility room, detailed below.
‘La Petite Dependence’
In a separate building, on the west side of the courtyard, is a large characterful double bedroom with its original fireplace and oven. It has two twin beds and has room for a cot. The shuttered windows face out over both courtyard and the orchard behind the house.
‘Shower Room/Wash Room‘
Adjacent to the Petit Dependence on the west side of the courtyard is a shower room with toilet and next to it a utility room with a sink and automatic washing machine.
The Pool Room
Next to the pool on the east side of the courtyard is an additional twin bedroom, which is rustic and suitable for overflow teenagers! Our little ones often use it to make a den in.
